Travis Kelce’s Wife Taylor Swift Sends $50K to Connecticut Mother Who Nearly Died Saving Teens on I-95

Taylor Swift is one of the most famous women on the planet, and she has become quite prominent in the NFL over the years. The singer is married to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, having done so in a luxurious manner at Madison Square Garden, New York City on July 3, 2026.

Her relationship with Kelce has elevated both of them in terms of popularity and fame. She recently earned much praise due to a huge contribution.

Swift went viral after she donated $50,000 to a GoFundMe supporting Ashley Taunton, a 42-year-old certified nursing assistant, wife, and mother of three from Connecticut. The contribution is visible on the GoFundMe page and was made on August 28, 2026.

So far, it is the largest contribution to the campaign, which has raised more than $74, 000 at the time of writing. A separate Meal Train effort had collected over $16,000. Swift also left a message in the comments that said, “Wishing you the best recovery possible and sending love to your family! Taylor.”

Taunton was driving south on Interstate 95 in Rhode Island with her youngest daughter on July 18, 2026, when a severe rainstorm occurred. She encountered three teenagers whose vehicle had hydroplaned. She stopped and instructed her daughter to remain in the car and contact her husband Joe, and helped the group. Just moments later, another vehicle lost control on the wet roadway and headed towards them. Taunton managed to push the nearest teenage girl out of the vehicle’s path and absorbed the impact herself.

She sustained multiple injuries, such as a bilateral internal carotid artery dissection, liver and spleen lacerations, multiple rib fractures, and a ruptured diaphragm. She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where she had to undergo two surgeries and has more planned. Her recovery could take up to a year.

The GoFundMe was organized by family friend Laura Ortelt, which aims to help her family cover hospital and other costs. Swift is known to help with charity all the time, with a massive gesture done during her own wedding.

Swift and Kelce donated around $26 million per The Athletic to more than 20 local and national charities ahead of their wedding. The amount was distributed among these charitable organizations. It was done during the week of their wedding festivities in New York City.

Nine of the groups were based in New York, which included City Harvest, Food Bank For NYC, New York Cares, and Musical Mentors. Other groups that were national organizations included Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Feeding America, and the ASPCA. This aligns well with the singer’s philanthropic and charitable actions over the years.
