EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Taylor Swift Pulls Major Victory Over Those Critical of Her Kamala Harris Endorsement
It looks like Taylor Swift is getting some good “Karma” after publicly endorsing a candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
Ever since the “Cruel Summer” songstress publicly backed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and her running-mate Tim Walz, Swift’s popularity has somehow grown even more—contrary to what many critics thought would happen.
After sharing the Sept. 10 Instagram post revealing her plans to vote for Harris in November, Swift has gained more than 1.8 million Spotify followers, Variety reports. Her follower count on Instagram has also increased by about 260,000 since she endorsed Harris.
That outcome is far different from the one Republican nominee Donald Trump predicted following Swift’s endorsement, as he previously said the 14-time Grammy winner would “pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
And while some critics of the “Anti-Hero” singer believe her public political stance has caused her listenership to take a nosedive, the research seems to suggest otherwise.
Swift’s monthly listener number on Spotify has declined by about 3 percent, but her monthly totals are coming off “all-time highs for the singer,” who released her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, back in April. According to Variety’s report, data showed Swift’s monthly listeners at their peak in May and have been trending down to more “normal” levels since.
Historical data from Songstats also suggests that Swift’s current monthly listener total remains above her prior-year averages going all the way back to 2020, meaning the Eras Tour performer is still very much at the top of her game.
Following Swift’s endorsement last month, Harris spoke out to express how “very proud” she is to have the singer’s support.
“She’s an incredible artist,” the vice president said, adding, “I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right.”
