JUST IN: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘PANIC’ as ‘people willing to SPEAK OUT’ in new documentary
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are bracing themselves for a new royal documentary which could bring fresh details about them into the spotlight.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be at the centre of a new documentary made by German TV producer Ulrike Grunewald, who’s got years of experience covering the royals.
But the couple may be frantic with “worry” and “panic” over what the new programme will unveil, a source has claimed.
Ms Grunewald has travelled to California with her team to gather insight into the lives of the Montecito couple, with Richard Mineards – a journalist who’s covered the Royal Family for newspapers in the UK before moving to the Sussexes’ neighbourhood in the US – being amongst those interviewed.
He shared in his latest column: “Los Angeles-based produce Melanie Hillmann grilled me for two hours on my Riven Rock neighbours, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, under director Ulrike Grunewald.”
Now a source claimed there may be fears in the Sussex camp over the new documentary as “there are many things that both of them, especially Meghan, don’t necessarily want in the public domain”.
The source told OK!: “It’s no secret that they both led colourful lives before they met each other, and while Harry has spoken about a lot of mistakes in his book, there are still things about Meghan we don’t know.”
They added that the duchess has “brushed over” certain details from her past, including the breakdown of her first marriage, but there may be people who are “willing to speak out”.
Meghan married American film producer Trevor Engelson in 2011 but the couple split up in 2013 with their divorce being finalised in 2014, just two years before she met Prince Harry in 2016.
The source said: “Her first marriage didn’t end well and her ex-husband is yet to speak out – but who knows, for the right amount of money, he may have his say.”
They added the new documentary could also shed light on the “fall-out with [Princess] Kate and dismiss the Sussex camp narrative that it was all Kate’s fault.”
However, they stated that the couple is now “desperate” to leave everything behind and “start afresh” with Harry fearing that their “new happiness could be ruined if Meghan’s past is investigated.”
