Taylor Swift Shuts Down Breakup Rumors With New Match Dedicated to the ‘Greatest in the League’ Boyfriend Travis Kelce
While much of the world ponders the status of the relationship between so-called American Royalty Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in the aftermath of two missed Chiefs games on the superstar’s part—which happened to coincide with the alleged planned end of their coupling seen in a “leaked” breakup contract that some believed to be written for the two—the “So High School” songstress is putting an end to the speculation once and for all.
On Oct. 3, which happens to be National Boyfriend’s Day, Swift launched her newest merch collection. The product lineup features a selection of embossed sweatsuits that have been collectively named “The Greatest in the League Collection”—a reference to her song “The Alchemy,” which is widely suspected to have been written about her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and features the lyric, “…they said there was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league; where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me.”
The message, nor its timing, couldn’t be more clear, and fans were quick to pick up on it.
“Taylor Swift is the master of subtle shade,” one replied to an announcement about the collection on X, while another reminded anyone reading that there’s no such thing as coincidence when it comes to Swift: “People thinking stuff like this is ‘just a coincidence’?? like do they not know Taylor? She is aware of everything, there are no coincidences of this size with her.”
The move comes after an anonymous insider confirmed the two were “still together and doing well” and hoping to “take some time off together” in the near future. Kelce also preemptively squashed some of the rumors several years ago, when he asserted that he didn’t expect whoever he was dating “to go to all the games.”
“I mean, there’s eight home games, eight away games, plus playoffs. I don’t even expect my parents and my friends to make every single game,” he said.
