Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Donate $26 Million to Children’s Hospitals and Food Banks Ahead of Wedding

Before Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce exchanged vows at Madison Square Garden on July 3, the couple quietly carried out one of the largest celebrity giving campaigns of the year donating a combined $26 million to nearly 20 charities across the country, including three children’s hospitals and nine food banks and hunger-relief organizations.

## The Donations

Representatives for the couple confirmed the gifts to Variety, which reported that the money supported food banks, children’s hospitals, educational and music programs, youth initiatives, and an animal welfare organization. Three children’s hospitals received support: MSK Kids, the pediatric cancer program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York; Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, near where Kelce plays for the Chiefs; and Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, also in New York.

Spokespeople for the hospitals expressed gratitude publicly. A Memorial Sloan Kettering representative told Becker’s Hospital Review that the gift directly supports clinical care and research aimed at improving outcomes for young patients, while a spokesperson for Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital thanked the couple and wished them well as they began their marriage.

On the food-security side, City Harvest New York’s largest food rescue organization announced it received $1 million from the couple, calling the donation a “love letter to New York.” The Rhode Island Community Food Bank also confirmed a separate $1 million gift, describing it as an “extraordinarily generous and unexpected” contribution. Other recipients included Feeding America, Food Bank For NYC, Harvesters The Community Food Network, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the ASPCA, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which alone received $2 million.

## The Backdrop: Federal Cuts to Food Assistance

While reporting has not tied the couple’s hospital donations to any nationwide cut in hospital funding, the food bank donations have been widely connected to real federal policy changes. Several charities noted that their need has grown sharply after the Trump administration’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” reduced federal food assistance spending last year. City Harvest CEO Jilly Stephens said visits to New York City soup kitchens and food pantries are near record highs and are expected to climb further because of the federal cuts.

That backdrop fueled online debate after the donations were announced, with some commentators framing the moment as evidence of a strained safety net one social media post that circulated widely argued that private philanthropy shouldn’t have to fill gaps left by federal policy.

## Part of a Larger Pattern

The pre-wedding donations extend a long pattern of philanthropy from Swift specifically, who has a history of giving to children’s hospitals and disaster relief efforts, often revealed by the recipient organizations rather than by Swift herself. Past gifts have gone to Feeding America following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, tornado relief funds in Tennessee, wildfire relief in Los Angeles, and individual fans facing serious illness, along with hospital visits where she has spent time with young patients in person, including a visit to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City in December.

## The Wedding Itself

The donations came just days before Swift and Kelce married in front of more than 1,000 guests at Madison Square Garden, an event industry estimates suggest cost somewhere between $10 million and $50 million once venue transformation, security, catering, and production costs are factored in. Coming immediately before that high-profile, high-cost celebration, the charitable giving drew notice for its scale and timing  roughly matching, dollar for dollar, what outside estimates suggest the wedding itself may have cost.

Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly commented on the donations beyond the confirmation provided to press through representatives.
