Celine Dion Caught Totally Rocking Out, Playing Air Guitar, While Watching Metallica’s Las Vegas Show
Who would have imagined that one of the world’s greatest voices would be caught unleashing her inner rock star at a Metallica concert? Celine Dion has given fans another reason to smile after being spotted enthusiastically rocking out, playing an imaginary guitar and dancing along to the legendary band’s electrifying performance in Las Vegas.
The 58-year-old music superstar appeared to be having the time of her life as she attended Metallica’s concert at the iconic Sphere in Las Vegas on Thursday, November 5. However, it wasn’t just the band’s incredible performance that caught people’s attention. It was Dion’s hilarious and energetic reaction to the music that quickly became a talking point.
Dressed in a stylish dark blazer with her hair pulled back into an elegant updo, the Grammy-winning singer enjoyed the show from an upper-balcony suite alongside her two sons, Eddy and Nelson, whom she shares with her late husband, René Angélil.
While many celebrities might prefer to sit quietly and enjoy a concert from a private suite, Dion clearly had other plans.
Photographs and videos from the evening captured the singer standing up, pumping her fists in the air and enthusiastically pretending to play an invisible guitar as Metallica delivered some of their famous rock anthems.
At one point, she appeared to imitate the movements of a bass guitarist, moving her fingers as though she were playing along with the musicians onstage. She also raised both hands above her head, making playful gestures while completely surrendering to the rhythm.
Her particularly entertaining performance came during the band’s instrumental jam section featuring guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo.
The footage quickly attracted attention online, with fans amused and delighted to see the usually glamorous ballad queen displaying such an unexpected rock-and-roll side.
But perhaps the biggest surprise is that Dion’s enthusiasm for rock music is nothing new.
Although she is internationally celebrated for emotional ballads such as My Heart Will Go On, The Power of Love and Because You Loved Me, the Canadian superstar has previously spoken about her appreciation for heavier music.
In fact, she revealed in a 2007 interview that she enjoyed listening to AC/DC and sometimes used the band’s legendary song Thunderstruck to get her adrenaline pumping before performances.
She has even demonstrated her rock credentials onstage, including a memorable performance of AC/DC’s You Shook Me All Night Long alongside Anastacia during the 2002 VH1 Divas Live concert.
Interestingly, Dion’s appearance at Metallica’s concert comes after an incredibly challenging period in her personal and professional life.
In December 2022, the singer publicly revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes severe muscle stiffness and painful spasms. The condition forced her to step away from performing while she focused on her health.
However, she has gradually been making an inspiring return to music. In September 2026, she returned to the stage in Paris for a highly anticipated concert residency following years away from full-length performances.
For fans who have followed her difficult journey, seeing her laughing, dancing and enjoying herself at a Metallica concert was particularly heartwarming.
And while Celine Dion may have built her legendary career on powerful love songs, her latest appearance proves that when it comes to music, she certainly doesn’t discriminate.
