The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback joked that the “Cruel Summer” singer was responsible for finally getting Travis Kelce to make a major change to his appearance—one he’s been hoping to see in his teammate for a while.”I’ve been trying to get him to grow his hair out,” Patrick quipped during an Aug. 13 appearance on NFL Training Camp Tour SiriusXM special, “and all of a sudden Taylor gets him to do it.”

One thing Patrick doesn’t want to Taylor to get Travis to do? Play more golf. As Patrick put it, “He gets me off my game.””He’s a bad influence,” the football player continued. “By day three, I’m like, ‘I can’t be with him for more than two days.'” Of course, this isn’t the first time Patrick has offered a glimpse into the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s relationship with Taylor. The 28-year-old previously argued that he deserves credit for getting the couple of over a year together, considering he was the one to put Taylor’s fateful Eras Tour show in Kansas City on Travis’ radar.

“I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert with the friendship bracelet,” Patrick shared during a May 23 appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “He was sitting in my suite.”

And ensuring Travis’ attendance at the July 7 concert wasn’t the only way he set their love story in motion. Patrick—who shares daughter Sterling, 3, and son Patrick “Bronze,” 22 months, as well as a baby on the way with wife Brittany Mahomes—also detailed how his words of encouragement were part of the couple’s alchemy.
“I had some input in there as well,” he revealed before recalling that he told Travis, “‘Dude, just go for it, just go for it.'”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s love story began in July 2023, when the singer’s Eras Tour made a stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. As a huge Swiftie, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end caught the show with hopes of giving Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number on it. However, he failed to complete the pass due to her pre-show rituals.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis shared on the July 26 episode of his New Heights podcast. “So, I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Summer 2023: This Is Him Trying
After publicly recounting his fumble—a move Taylor would later describe as “metal as hell”—Travis decided to shoot his shot and invite the Grammy winner to watch the Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium.

“I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court,” he shared on The Pat McAfee Show. “I told her, you know, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.’ So, we’ll see what happens in the near future.”

Travis was rocking a mustache—which he debuted in August during training camp—when he was first introduced to Taylor.
As he later noted of the era, “That ‘stache and the 87 jersey was pretty iconic there for a little bit, and I had it when I met Taylor for the first time.”
